I know I have been a very bad blogger, and I know being busy is no excuse, but nonetheless. I only hope that by telling you about my newest obsessions that I can be forgiven:
First is Pandora, it's like a radio that only plays music you like. It's great for finding new bands that you will like, but it's hard to find music you already know you like (b/c after you pick the first song it creates a playlist of songs like it) -- but I love how I can just let it go and it will play forever.
Next is Chictopia. After hearing about it from Glitterpills (http://glitter-pills.blogspot.com/) I decided to check it out for myself. It's kind of like Twitter -- a much faster and staccato way to post pictures and stuff -- but much better because you can put things with substance on it. It's called TSNGFL, for They Say Nice Girls Finish Last
Lastly is a blog I found called Ryan Runs Europe. (http://ryanrunseurope.blogspot.com/) This guys is running across Europe becuase he feels like it! It's so cool becuase he just picked up and left and now he's living in the woods, crashing on couches of people he just met, etc. The stories are so cool & everyone should read them.

I actually didn't really like this dress but I love the shape and unfortunately he only did three and even more unfortunately they weren't very good in my taste.

At first I thought this was very grandma-y but then I noticed the details in the skirt and the way the cutouts were artfully placed was very chic

Paris!!
That's right I'm am going to France next year! True, it is with my french class, and true, it is over spring break, but I don't care because it has been my goal in life to go to Paris for as long as I can remember. I am going to take a lot of pictures and maybe even a few street fashion pictures à la "Style and the City" (http://www.styleandthecity.com/street-style-paris-fashion-week/2009/06/05/paris-jeudi-4-juin-17h19h-un-peu-de-street-style-pour-oublier-le-cote-obscur-de-la-societe/).

So I watched the MTV Movie Awards, don't stone me!
However, it was bad. If you didn't watch it, all you missed was one long awkward moment only broken by: Andy Samberg's fake "New Moon" trailer, the real Harry Potter 6 trailer, Kristen Stewart dropping her award (unfortunately, it didn't break - that would have been really funny), Kiefer Sutherland's amazing crying bit and Eminem storming out after a nearly naked angel landed on him. Luckily, for the producers, it was after his performance which didn't really look or sound like he was actually singing. I wouldn't want a penis pouch of some German-sounding angel on my face either, Eminiem, but have a sense of humor & just laugh it off. Face it, no one takes you as seriously as you think they do - and if you dish it out you have to be able to take it as well.
One other disappointment, Twilight won everything. Don't get me wrong, I love the book & Robert Pattinson is extremely good looking, but he will never compare to the Edward I created in my mind. And Kristen Stewart, I'm sure she's a really fun & smart girl, but every time she opens her mouth I feed depressed. Bella is not supposed to be a Debbie Downer when she's with Edward! People in love are supposed to be happy! so laugh a little please!
Although many of Samberg's jokes faltered or flew right over the audience's head, his opening was genius. He started in the bathroom stall in Slumdog Millionaire, got covered in poop, and magically appeared if Forks, Washington. There, Edward Cullen seemed a little put-off by his smell, and then Kate Winslet bathed him. Before it got too racy, he was beamed up to the Star-Trek ship & then quickly beamed back down, naked, into Justin Timberlake's limo, but I don't thing Timberlake was even present at the show. Oh well, it was still pretty funny.

Upsets
Bella & Edward's kiss beat Jamal & Latika's kiss (in Slumdog Millionaire) for best kiss
"The Climb" by Miley Cyrus (for Hannah Montana the Movie) beat "Jai-Ho" (for Slumdog) for best song in a movie
Jim Carrey (for "Yes Man") beat James Franco (for "Pineapple Express) for best comedic performance
And most importantly, I didn't have ONE amazing fashion moment. I'm sure if I go through all the pictures from the red carpet I will find some dresses I like (and I probably will do that in the near future) but not one outfit captured me right away & that was a huge let down.

Romeo + Juliet (1996 - Baz Luhrmann) is my favorite movie of all time. This is probably because I am 1. weirdly in love with Shakespeare and 2. weirdly in love with Leonardo DiCaprio. - They're both addictions.

The movie is a modernized (well, as "modern" as you can be for 1996) version of the original play by Shakespeare. The best part, for me anyway, is they kept the original vernacular- yup, all the thees, sirs and madams possible!

The second best part of the movie is definitely the music. Please, listen to the soundtrack, for me. The only complaint I have is the actual soundtrack does not include a cover of "When Doves Cry" by Quindon Tarver, which, in my opionion, is better than the original. And, the soundtrack does not include the song from the very beginning when Benvolio & "his men" are driving in his car and it pauses and goes "THE BOYS, THE BOYS." This sucks because that is one of the parts of the movie that I look foward to everytime I watch the movie.

I was really impressed by the Elie Saab collection. I don't know what else to say except it was fantastic:

I love the bat wing shoulders & the amazing beading on the chest. Also the awesome half gloves

I totally just realized there was a peace sign on her stomach! haha, I love it. But initially, I loved the neckline

this is probably one of my favorites of the show

cut-outs are perfect

I love the sleeves, although it sort of makes her arms look like they are pinned to her sides

I wish I had a close up of this fabric

I am not really a fan of the puffy jacket, but I do love the superman/WWE belt and the way the dress seems to flow in and out of it

Christopher Kane fall 2009 in a word: bad. I only liked one piece altogether and I'm sorry but I thought all the models looked like men.

i only really like the pleats and embroidery on the hem of the skirt

I had trouble with this show. At the beginning I hated it because it seemed like the designer (Andrew Gn) took the car parts challenge from project runway a little too seriously. However, the gowns at the end were so elegant I changed my mind.

sorry I haven't posted in a while, I was in Quebec with my French class (lots of fun!). But before I went I was wondering around the city and wondered into a Kenneth Cole store party. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough money to get anything, but I figured I can always show you what my favorites were:I thought this was so cute

they had this in the store in pink - raspberry pink - I love it

my only problem with this is that the zipper is on the right, long side, so if you had to unzip it the fringe would be going the wrong way and it wasn't as cool looking

obviously I loved this print, I wanted it on shoes, bags, everything!

I'm sorry it's been so late but here are my favorites from the Oscars:I LOVED Anne Hathaway in this dress! It was sparkly but not gaudy, and she owned it...her figure is amazing and she looks like a statuette.

I admire Tilda Swinton for not going for the giant pretty dress (even though i love those) because it just shows how comfortable she is being herself, and she looks so good doing it.

the pleats and details on this dress are incredible

i love the detail on the neck

i really love this color and i think the dress is so chic (however i am not a huge fan of the hair)

i really wish i could find a better angle of this dress because it was amazingly pretty (and reflective)

This is a very simple but sexy dress and I think it's good that Angelina is dressing like a mom should....not that any other celebrity moms aren't but....

I love creamy whites and the details are so intriguing

James Franco is so incredibly good looking, i love him (and his girlfriends dress would have been equally amazing if it didn't have the weird ruching on the side)

the fall VPL line was really interesting and I liked it, but I found the accessories much more fun:

Monique Lhuillier - Fall 2009:These were two of my favorites, i can't deny that I love poof!

This suit is actually very chic even though it seems extremely shiny

I wish there was a better photo of the middle dress because the beading looks very intricate and really pretty but you can't really tell from this angle

this dress wasn't my favorite but it reminded me of a french prostitute (which is a very good thing in my book!)

So yesterday I was in the city (new york, that is) and I cut through Bryant Park hoping to see something but there wasn't anything going on at the moment...sad, I know.

My favorites from "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (May 2008 -- yes I realize this was a long time ago but I didn't have a blog then did I?)

Scarlett Johansson -- the bodice is totally "superhero"

Naomi Watts -- somehow when I see this dress I think 'classic' and 'modern' at the same time This picture was misidentified but I love these women for being so daring with their makeup and hair. People who go for it completely are much more interesting

Karl Lagerfeld & Kate Bosworth -- no comment necessary

Jennifer Lopez -- I love the beading but the rest of the dress is not very flattering on her

Hillary Duff -- I love sparkly things too!

Eva Longoria -- I absolutely adore the color, the cut and all the frills!!

Emmy Rossum -- Not my favorite dress, but simply a wonderful actress (one of my all time favorites)

Claudia Schiffer & Valentino Garavani -- these types of frills were everywhere

Christina Ricci -- the red leotard was a bold choice but I think it worked wonders and was a creative response to the theme; although I could have done without the pink tulle around her right arm & shoulder

The color is great and I love the shoulder detail but the piece on her waist was a little unnecessary I think

So this is my first official post on my first official blog!
Very official is it not?
--well, technically this is my second blog, but my first was really just a practice, to see what blogging was like...I have to say it's pretty cool. liberating almost. Not in a "I don't feel like wearing a bra or panties today" way, more like "I can say what I really want, whenever I want" way.

Anyway I love finding inspiration...
